Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) (also known as 'the green comet' ☄️) above the Chattri Memorial.
The Chattri is a beautiful memorial to the Indian Soldiers who died during the 1st World War, located on the South Downs on the edge of Brighton (Google Maps).
Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF, is also known as 'the green comet' for obvious reasons. The green colour is due to its chemical composition burning up (cyanide and diatomic carbon).
The comet's scientific name comes from the following: ZTF relates to the place the comet was discovered (Zwicky Transient Facility), 2022 was the initial year of discovery and E3 relates to it being the third comet in the first part of March.
The star formation above the Chattri is known as the Little Dipper (ursa minor) and is close-by to its bigger brother the Big Dipper (ursa major), also known as the Plough.
PHOTOS OF THE GREEN COMET ABOVE THE CHATTRI MEMORIAL:
1st photo: Close-up on the Chattri with the green comet (C2022 E3 ZTF) just above.
2nd photo: Landscape view < Link to purchase prints/canvases of this photo >
3rd photo: Landscape view with night sky astro objects labelled.
4th photo: A close-up of the comet near to the star 'kochab' that is on the corner of the Little Dipper (ursa minor). You can just about make out the comets 'tails' coming off to the right and downwards from the main green nucleus.
5th photo: A higher quality version of the comet I took on another night. You can see a slight hint of the tail off to the right, however, by this point the ion tail was diminishing.
